Sorin’s Nissan Silvia
Sorin has worked with AV-DC for his sound system installations for some time now. He approached us for a show-stopper – ultimate overkill in his Nissan Silvia. He’d collected a set of his favourite Digital Designs amplifiers, and wanted to combine them with over-engineered hardware and big bass in an eye-catching boot installation.
A combination of fibreglass and lightweight plywood construction was used to construct a huge 5.5 cubic foot ported subwoofer enclosure, upholstered in charcoal alcantara and grey plush pile carpet.
A full set of battery terminals, multi-adapters, distribution blocks and fusing were designed with the help of CAD, laser-cut, and hand finished to fit to the amplifiers and Optima BlueTop D34M battery. CSE Signature RCA leads complete the package in the boot.
Fibreglass A pillars with ring radiator tweeters, polycarbonate mounts for the Seas Excel midbass drivers, a CNC machined DIN control panel, and under-bonnet power distribution are just a few of the many custom touches that went into this project.
The car was our first feature in Australian Incar magazine.
With a CNC machine cutting all of my electrical hardware, AVDC also constructed my entire boot out of Plywood and Fibreglass, making it a one-handed lift in and out of the car so as not to compromise any of the car’s performance with bulky enclosures. Where I had a number of very specific requirements, I found that AVDC always had a solution to cater for these and the results were impeccable. AVDC had access to all manner of high quality trimming materials including the marine grade plush pile carpet and charcoal suede used throughout the boot, including wrapping my factory boot trims. I had always dreamed of seeing my own car in a magazine so when INCAR Entertainment approached me to do a feature on my S15 I was over the moon. They were particularly impressed with the many custom items I had in the build and my car was the first South Australian vehicle ever featured in their magazine – testament to the amazing work and attention to detail that Callum put into my car.
I love to pop in to the new AVDC showroom every now and then to see what new products they have and maybe even catch a peek at some custom builds they might have on. Building your dream car is an experience and requires a team that see your vision and want to make it a reality; I have referred a number of high end installations to the team at AVDC and trust that they’re always in safe hands.
